I recently purchased a twenty year old juniper. I had the tree by a large picture window indoors. The tree was placed over a tray with rocks and water. I misted the tree daily. The soil was checked for moisture using a chopstick. The needles are not turning brown but are drying up and becoming brittle.

simple tree is dying. junipers die indoors, they belong outside like all trees. a picture would help but if your needles are brittle and fall off as you touch them that means the tree has been unhappy for sometime now as junipers show the signs of struggle well after they have already been struggling.

I have placed tree outside. There are still healthy needles on it. Is there anything else I can do to revive it

Stop misting and get the watering right. Full sun and fertiliser.
