I'm a little confused, are you implying that putting some rocks in water below the tree doesn't raise the humidity at all? Or it's just too little that won't help. The humidity just spreads/ disperses into the air, it doesn't stay around the tree. See it as dropping a drop of paint into a pool, it just vanishes into the vast amount of water.
