Will my bonsai live? was created by Immortal-Iron-Fist

My cousin flung his shoe off his foot and it knocked over my chinese elm bonsai... since then the leaves have died, but the inside is still green. What does this mean? What do I do?

Here is a broad photo of the tree as well as a photo of a cut I made on the trunk today to check if it's alive

Its dead , but probably not from the shoe but from being inside, trees die inside. For the one % chance that there is some life left: place it outside in the shade, water when the soil feels dry,and hope

I usually keep it outside during the day, I've only had it inside today because it's raining pretty hard

Also I've had it for at least 6 months and it only just happened after he knocked it over, it was flourishing before that

There is no need for that, trees don't go inside when it rains, in fact they really dislike being moved around.
You usually keep it out during the day that means you bring it in at night????

Most afternoons when I come home I'll bring it back to it's place on my desk. I chose this type because everything I heard said this one was the easiest to keep and didn't need a lot of sunlight.

Ok, I see. Was the rootball out of the pot when he knocked it over?
Bringing it inside is a bad idea, it needs to be outside all the time

No, it just knocked out a lot of the potting soil. The root ball was almost revealed, so I topped off the soil and rocks to cover it back up. It was also noticeably more wobbly inside the pot after that. When I saw the leaves were dying, I did some research on that and found that I should try submerging it in water above the edge of the pot for 10 minutes and then resume normal watering afterward, so I tried that because I thought there was a chance it wasn't getting enough water
