Hi there! I need some advice on what to do with my Golden Gate Ficus. This has happened before, and in the past I’ve just cut the branch off, but I wanted some advice to make sure this was the right thing to do. The branch that grows, grows from the large roots exposed above the soil. The leaves that are on it, are the same shape as my bonsais, but have a different texture and feel, they are also about four inches long, and two, almost two and a half, inches wide. My bonsais are maybe an inch long and half an inch wide, so these leaves are huge compared to my bonsais. I’m not sure if the plant growing is just from the original tree and that is why the leaves are so large, or, if the branch is a pest and is trying to strangle my bonsai. I’ve cut them in the past but they continue to pop up every now and then. I’ve also noticed they grow on a small tumor like piece on the root. I was wondering if I should cut the branch, as well as they tumor like piece on the roots. The other thing I’ve noticed, is that the branch is a green color and bendy, rather than a typical brown and stiff branch.Thank you, any help would be much appreciated!

That is the original tree sprouting from below the graft. If you dont want them, just cut them off.
