I have been having a good run at the local nurseries. Picked up 2 bags of "hedging" hornbeams for ?5.20 each. 3 hornbeams in each. good inch or more thick for the most part..

Also came across the attached Chinese Juniper and couldnt reist for a tenner. Its tall and leggy at the moment. My thinking was to airlayer it. I do note, however, that the lower section which is almost bare, has (perhaps surprisingly) a number of shoots coming out. I know I can't just trunk chop as one imght with a deciduous tree, and that anything drastic should wait unti spring. Do you all think that airlayering the top section is the way to go? Any other clever ideas?
