Hi I am new here. I bought a Bonzai from Costco. It was labeled Kokedama Bonzai. It is in a pot . Surrounded by a cork like ball. Could someone please give me some tips on how to care for it. Not sure how to water it. I read online a true Kokedama you dunk it . Should I just water from the top? Also can someone identify for me ? I will enclose a picture. Thank you.

Kokedama and bonsai is two different things. This is neigther. This is a ficus ginseng in a bowl of coco fiber mat.

Thanks Tropfrog. Are there any Bonzai that don’t require a lot of sunlight? Also could you direct me where I can go to find out how to take care of it please?

Trees need sunlight, it is their food. So, they are best kept outdoors.

There are no plants that do not require sunlight. No plants live naturally inside any dwelling. This plant is in an unsuitable container purely to make it sell for more money than if it was in a pot. I would suggest that you transfer it to a pot, plastic or otherwise soon. Watering this will be a problem with what it is in.

I took the moss off the plant. I have no clue how this plant survived . It was inside moss ball inside that was a paper cup . The discus is planted in a green pot with holes. So I am thinking it probably should be in a different kind of pot all together . What a mess. Could you recommend what I should do? What kind of pot would be suitable for it.
