Hey everyone! Due to quarantine, I’ve decided to start my bonsai journey. I don’t expect anything to come of it for 40 years, but I’ve got the time to really grow a beautiful specimen (and lots of them). So, for my questions:
1.) Any idea what trees these seeds come from? I found these in my yard.
2.) Can I actually do anything with this seedling? Do I take a cutting or dig it up? Is it nice enough to work with?
3.) Are these cones actually viable? Aren’t they supposed to fall in fall?
4.) General advice.... I’ve been reading as much as I can, but if anyone more experienced had any words of wisdom, they would be much appreciated.

You can make a bonsai out of poison ivy. Not that it would be recommended.
From the seed pod, it looks like some sort of locust, maybe. With really huge leaves that don't reduce. You can put some in pots, and see how many ways you can kill them. Just a thought.

Could they be catalpa seeds? After googling, this may be right? I wish that I could see the tree, but it’s in a yard a few houses down (I presume) so the pods are all I have to go off of.

The locust pods we rake up around here are over a foot long.
Well the seeds look like locust, My neighbor has a tree that looks like yours, it's seed pods, are much different. Come fall i'll show you.
You will still have Huge leaves.
