Hi everyone,
I was given a Crepe Myrtle bonsai kit at Christmas and planted the seeds then. I was able to grow 3 seedlings and in my research read that you need to cut the tree for it to grow branches. One seedling grew to about 8 inches tall, and the leaves began to fall off on the bottom half. It also grew bark about 1/3 of the way up. I cut the seedling about a week ago, and it does not seem to be doing well, though I saved the clipping to propagate.
Do I really need to cut the seedlings for it to grow branches? What is the best way to do this? Or should I just let them grow for a couple years before doing anything?
Appreciate all of your input! Thank you!

You need to let it grow a bit before, before pruning. A couple of years at least.
Gives you lot's of time to study.
