名媛直播 1 i think is a Bird plum, not really sure. It is the one with the white pot in the picture. It grew a lot after i bought it (doubled in height), and i repotted it into a larger pot. At first it wasn't that happy (can't remember exactly what, i think some leaves fell off), but in a few days it recovered. However now i am seeing a lot of brown leaves and green leaves falling off. I am watering it once every 2 days, until a lot of water drips from the draining holes.
名媛直播 2 is a ginseng type (not sure which exact one). It is the one in the black pot in the pictures. Also repotted after buying. Initially i was watering it once every other day, but a lot of green leaves started falling off, so i switched to ~ once per week. It recovered, but recently i noticed leaves falling off again. The leaves that are falling off are green and young (small ones, pale green, not even starting to get brown like i had when i watered them every other day). Also noticed about 3 completely dried leafs in the last 2 weeks, not sure if that is normal. The tree did not grow that much since i got it. Only sprouted 1-2 leaves on most of the branches.
Both trees have been kept on the window sill but i think they might be getting too much sun. They get direct sunlight after about 2 PM. Recently (2 days ago) i moved them away from the window, but not sure how much light they need.
Also i noticed small white bugs in the soil, so i got some generic indoor plant pesticide, and i used it for about 4 days on the trees. Mostly sprayed the earth, and small bursts on the leaves.
Adding generic plant fertiliser to them about once every 2-3 weeks and spraying the aerial roots with water 3-4 times a day.
Is there something that i am doing wrong causing leaves to fall off? Is it from the pesticide?

Posted 4 years 7 months ago #60147Also, wouldn't repotting it in this state risk killing it entirely? Should i water it less ofter for a time?
Btw, does the "too much water" issue apply to both trees?

Posted 4 years 7 months ago #60151i used it as recommended on the pesticide spray bottle. You only ever use a pesticide ONCE not every day!!!
From what i read, too much sunlight can damage them. For example for the bird plum, here , it says: "needs protection from intense sunlight.".These plants need more sun than they are getting
How do i know if it is too much light? Recently it started getting a lot of direct sunlight (summer), and the leaves that started getting brown were the ones facing the window, that is why i assumed it was getting too much direct sunlight.

Posted 4 years 7 months ago #60157thanks, i will avoid doing this in the future!I doubt it told you to spray every day
you mean to turn it around 180 degrees so that it gets even sunlight, right?needs to be turned every two days
But the picture with the bird plum, in the white pot, has a lot of brown leaves (picture in the top left in the initial post). I think you were referring to the ficus one..The pictures show no damaged leaves.
Do i need to remove browning leaves from the bird plum, or should i leave them there? (a lot are half green, half brown )

Posted 4 years 5 months ago #61337Regarding the bird plum, after watering it less ofter, a lot more leaves started falling off, until it barely had any leaves on it.. Since then, i started adding a little water every day, and it started to come back to life. Once it becomes a bit more healthy i will try to reduce the water a bit, but since it is growing back i think it would be safer to stick with this method.
However i noticed a lot of springtails in the soil of the bird plum. after watering i can see tens of little small dots jumping around.. Guessing all that water is to blame, but i don't want to risk having it die again.. Is there something i can do to get rid of them? I read that usually they are harmless to the plant, but in this case it already is weak.. also i don't want them spreading around the house (plants are kept near the kitchen)
