Hi all, I'm a first time planter of well... anything... I bought a "Nature's Blossom 名媛直播 Tree Kit" from Amazon and planted them on April 20.
They seem to be going fast which I have been told that means they're healthy and getting the right amount of water, but I seem to have a lot of mould? all around the soil. I read a lot of reviews saying they failed to sprout their seedlings and only got mould from the kit. I don't actually know if this is mould / good or bad mould.
The guide book also said to plant half of the seeds which was around 7 in each pot. Are they going to be ok to share this pot until the 3 month mark to replant in a bigger pot? Any advice is appreciated.

Hello and welcome.First of all congrats with the seedlings, a lot have sprouted and they look healthy ( which is already an achievement, believe me).
But.... they will not stay healthy if you keep them indoors. In fact, they will die. So, if it is not freezing in your part of the world you should bring them outdoors, first in the shade, then gradually more sun. The mold will probably disappear too. Btw, it is not time to repot them in individual pots yet, but it won't take ages anymore either.
You do know that there will not grow bonsai trees out of these seeds but just normal trees?

Hi thank you for the reply. Sadly I live in a windy/rainy climate (It's rare to get 20°C over here. Only on a good day) so I will not be able to put them outside. I will try my best to put them outside whenever it is clear day out. I currently have them on the window ledge (as seen in photos) and open the window when I can for fresh air.
So I take it that this mold build up is from the moisture inside a house? I only water the soil every 2-3 days when it's completely dry and I don't pour too much.
EDIT: Also yes, if I understand the whole 名媛直播 word correctly. They grow into normal trees and I shape them into the "bonsai" over the years.

yes,the mould is from the local humidity in the soil ( and low to no airventilation ).
Your pines will die inside, without any doubt, they need to be outside. 20 degrees is perfect. Where are you situated? Are there no pine trees living in your area?

I live on the east coast of Canada. Nearly every tree here is a pine tree. But I fear that they will die, since they're so small and our weather is barely sunny. Currently we've had 3 days of heavy rain (and more to come). Average temperate this month will be around 8-13°C also cloudy usually, will that be ok?

Yes, you live in a climate very suitable for pines. If you are in hardiness zone less than 6 you might need to protect it during winter. But indoors in living room temperature is never an option .

I understand what you mean. Temperature wise it is not a problem, the rain.. might be too much to handle because the soil they are in now retains a lot of water. But: trees ( all plants) need direct sunlight because it is their main source of energy/food which they don’t get inside. So you have a bit of a problem : inside they will die, outside they will probably drown now. You could place them a bit covered from the rain outside.
The big problem with pines is that they don’t show distress immediately ( deciduous plants their leaves hang, or curl, or become yellow...really quick), so the moment you see yellow or brown needles the plant is already long dead.

I see, thank you both for the information. I think I will have to try a different approach. I will try putting them outside during clear days with no rain and bring them inside when it does. I will also try making a sheltered area for them. I am unsure with what I will do during the colder times/months. But I guess I'll have to gamble with them inside.

Sorry to disappoint you, but a sure way to kill them quickly is to move them outside and back inside. Trees really dislike being moved a lot. .... the joys of starting with bonsai...

Oh goodness, the struggle is real. Would a sheltered (glass) breathable container be ok to leave them in? Like a greenhouse or a glass box be ok to keep them in? I could maybe surround them in a glass box with airflow and leave them on my deck outside.
