Hi my Ilex Crenata has been showing dark leaves which eventually fall out. Is it something to worry about? It is kept in a balcony in the shade but I live in Malta and its super hot at the moment 21degrees and 57% humidity. I water every now and then when the soil feels a bit dry not too much. Any help with this situation please? Im quite new to bonsai . Cheers!

First of all, put it outside. 21 isn't that hot. Around here we experience 30 to 35 and 80% all summer and the trees do just fine.
Water it with a sprinkler can or hose attachment washing the leaves. Water until water pours out of the bottom holes. This is important for the roots to get fresh air.

Hi thanks for your msg. It is outside in full shade. Should it be placed in some sun? Thankyou for the tip about watering. Do you think it is lacking water in the roots and drying up?

Sunlight is how plants get energy to grow. Don't put it immediately in full sun but let it become accustomed to more and more. When you water, water a lot and let the entire pot get soaked. Then let the plant use the water until it needs more. In full sun that may be every day.
