Hi there! I've got a bonsai tree, never had one before. The ceramic pot it came in doesn't have drainage holes, but it is in a plastic pot inside that. I took it out and spread the roots a bit and it looks OK I think.
Will it be OK back in the plastic pot (with drainage holes) and that inside the ceramic pot? Or should I get a proper pot with drainage? I hope that makes sense!
Also I'm hoping someone can tell me what type it is?
Thanks in advance!

You can get away with putting a few pebbles in the bottom of the ceramic pot to space the plastic away, and then emptying out the ceramic pot every time you water and every time it rains. Every time.
It would be easier to get a pot with holes, or maybe drill some holes in the ceramic pot.
If you say rain doesn't matter since it will be indoors, several people here will reply that it belongs outside.

a picture would really help...
Apart from that: you repot a tree not knowing which species it is, thus not knowing if it is the right time to repot?

never put a plant in a pot with no holes, that is a death sentence.

Not everyone is an expert, please remember that. I was gifted a plant and wanted to seek advice to look after it. Answers like yours aren't particularly helpful, you just come across as rude.

Thanks for the reply, as I said it is in the plastic pot it came in, which has holes.

Thanks so much for the helpful reply! I will likely drill holes. Thought I'd attached a photo but seems not, here it is

So I noticed today that quite a few of the leaves are crispy (still green) and many have since come off - the soil was dry when I got it. I've put the pot in water for 10 minutes, hoping that will help as I'm presuming it dried out? Any other suggestions? And should I still keep it outside given the crispy leaves?
