Hi everyone! My mum bought this Ilex crenata bonsai around a year and a half ago and recently it has started to look very sad.. it has had a lot of leaf drop with leaf browning - the stems are also turning brown. It has white fluff and webs across some of the stems which looks like it could be from a pest/spider? My mum and I are new to gardening so any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance

You have spider mites in your plant. Typically triggered by dry air and stagnant air. Could it be that this was kept in an enclosed environment that can heat up n the sun? Has it been very dry where you live?
Bring it more in the open. I find that some sprays do work (ensure mites are mentioned as these are spiders and not insects, so insecticide does not work). I also have good success by washing the tree with a grood amount of water, and then every day making sure the canopy gets well wettet for a few weeks. Spider mites hate wet surroundings.

Hi both, thanks for your replies. It has been dry where I live and the plant is outdoors but by our front door slightly covered by a porch so it is not very enclosed.
I'll move it and wash as you have recommended - I have read about neem oil as a possible solution to spider mites, is this something you think could help?
