Does anyone know anything about the book "101 名媛直播 essential tips" by HARRY TOMLINSON. Is that a good book?

Yes it is a good book, if a bit dated, There are plenty of new books about including Harry Harrington's 4 books at bonsai4me.com The other book that Harry Tomlinson wrote was also a good one.

I found 'The 名媛直播 Book' by Dan Barton quite good.
I plan on reading Harry Harringtons next. He seems the go to man :)

Dan's book is good, but again, it is dated written a long time ago and things move on. Most of it is excellent. The other very good book is the one that Peter Warren published. Peter's live streams are worth watching too, tonight at 9pm GMT+1 on Youtube Saruyama bonsai.

My opinion is that in the 21st century books on subjects like bonsai are obsolete. There are websites and videos galore to answer almost any need, and in the videos you can see the branch bending and see everything, much different from reading and seeing a still photo.

No way are books obsolete. Nothing will replace the book . Really, it is a combination of both. There are very few good web sites and videos, too many are produced by those who don't always know what they are doing, and so many of the videos are appalling quality.

I did say opinion, but what you say about videos applies to books, too. Most of my books are obsolete, because styles and tools have changed dramatically since the 60s and 70s. YMMV, but I won't be getting any more books.

There is also a problem with putting the books somewhere. Electronic books and videos take up no bookcase space. That can be important.

Agreed it is quite outdated, don't think you can even buy a new copy anymore, I got mine second hand.
But some of the techniques and advice he provides in the book is invaluable.

OK, Guess I will toss out my library..

I do hear what you say; Websites can bring new insights straight away whereas books do not change. But.. A good book will be good for a long time. Some things will be outdated. But basic concepts will not. And there is just something about pulling out a book, sitting in the garden and flipping through..

The book has to well written and worth publishing otherwise publishers don't. Videos etc in the internet can and are done by anyone who wants to. That is the difference. I love my books, and I hate reading from a screen, I buy magazines and will always. The book I referred to is of course outdated, but that is because of when it was published! As I said things move on, and change, that does not make it bad book, or not worth having or reading. Good example are the two books by John Naka. both written a long time ago, but still relevant today.
