Hi all!
First time bonsai grower here. I, like many here, bought a bonsai kit. Currently growing:
Jacaranda Mimosifolia
Pinus Thunbergii
Picea Mariana
Pinus Aristata
The seeds sprouted a few weeks back, but i have some issues:
1. My cat ripped the needles off the Aristata. (all trees now permanently separate from evil cats). It was the biggest at around 2-3", but is now just a stem. Is it savable? or is it done done?
2. The kit has me growing the plants in a peat mix. I see bonsai soil is very different. When should I be transferring over to bonsai soil?
3. The soil with the Mariana is molding. i keep scraping it off, but im afraid ill start uncovering the roots. Can i stop the mold? is it too early to somehow transfer the seedlings?
4. Should I transfer them into small bonsai pots first (2-3" pots) then eventually move up? And how early is too early to do this?
5. Could I grow seeds right from bonsai soil?
Sorry if I have repetitive questions, ive looked for answers and have found it difficult. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Also growing in Canada. If anyone can suggest the best soils and fertalizers to use, and where I can get them, would be fantastic!
Thanks in advance!

Do not see them as bonsai now, they are just normal tree seedlings and will remain that for a long time. So treat them as any other seedling untill they are ready to do something bonsai-ish to them ( in 5-10 years....)

I’m not sure I’m the best to answer some of your questions but you can definitely grow your baby bonsai I’m a bonsai soil. I had better luck that way. The peat soil that came with my kit didn’t do great the first time. Amazon some bonsai soil— tiny roots is a decent brand I’ve seen used a lot— the one I currently have has a lot of lava rock and is seeding nicely. But I also have one with more of a soil feel vs the rock feel that also seeded nicely.
Idk if moving them would be best, they are probably barely grounded as it is.
For the mold, get more airflow! Also if you put the bamboo sticks that came in your kit in the soil, move them out and lay them next to your little pots. Those molded so badly on me even with decent air flow.

Here are the pics as of tonight. As you can see, the 2 thunbergii and 1 aristata had their needles ripped off. Not sure if they're salvageable or not.
And you can see the white forming on the Marianas.
Obviously all too early to move or anything, I just want to have some sort of plan in place
Thanks again!
