Please excuse my ignorance

Approximately a year ago my daughter bought me a 名媛直播 as a gift, until the past few weeks I have watered it every second day.
Dropped some unknown fertiliser pellets on the soil and of late brought it inside by a window as the weather has not been very pleasant (Very Windy) and it is so small.
But it has over the past 3 weeks progressively started to go brown.
I am in my 60's not a green thumb by nature and I don't want it to die. I am not even sure what species it is? I am presuming by your helpful website it is a Hinoki Cypress? (Juniper Family)?
Watched your video on Junipers and am more confused Ha!? It seems quite complicated to look after these little buggers?
Please find attached a picture of it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am in Australia, she brought it at a garden supplies place. But they just seem to sell them and are not so helpful in looking after these trees?
I am quite willing to learn if the resources on your site will help.
Thanks in advance.
Colin.P.S. She just brought me another one for my BDay!!! Bigger and totally different!?!?! Argh!

Water when the top of soil is dry to the Touch.
Stop fertilize until it starts growing again.

Such a nice gift to get. Yet.. Such a burden to receive
From your picture it is a little hard to tell what is going on. That being said..
Yes, it is a chameacyparis / hinoki cypress.
One of their oddities is that they drop inner foliage and some years this may be a lot. This is part of their normal habit, although it is a bit annoying. Especially since they do nto make new branches easily. It being inside now does not help. Considering it has been growing well for you, bring it back outside and continue what you were doing.
You have a healthy specimen if I look at the branches. It grew well. It grew so well that the inside got shaded out. I would recomment thinning it, trimming bach the branches to get an airy feel to it. The guy in this video is well-respected in the Netherlands, and knows what he is talking about. I admit: I have not watched the full video (disclaimer!) but I trust his techniques fully. Have a look. THe material is quite clear in what he does. You COULD wire out the branches, but you do not have to. Basic idea is to take each branch and reduce the green from the ouside inwards, but always leave a healthy fan of foliage on it.

Ivan Mann wrote: It isn't really a burden. All you have to do is check for watering ever day, water when necessary, pinch back unwanted growth, mix up growing medium, repot it a exactly the right time, fertilize every week or so, wire to get good shape, kill bugs attacking it, handle local winters, prevent squirrel damage, protect it from wind after checking the weather forecast, and research every one of those topics. Nothing to it.
Well.. If you put it like that.. My comment made no sense at all!
:woohoo:
