So recently I was handed a Carmona from my nan who said she no longer wants it cause she can’t take care of it. I’ve been reading up on it. But as I’m new to this bonsai business. I need some help.
I’ve been watering regularly. And doing the right things in my mind to take care of it. But now the base of the bonsai has started to brown (as seen below). I read that it could be that it doesn’t have enough nutrients in the soil. I asked my Nan if she’s repotted it recently and she said she hadn’t for over 2 years. It’s now mid-May. Is it too late to repot and save this beautiful bonsai??

If it has been re potted why would you do it again? Carmona are notoriously difficult to grow indoors. It needs protection but a greenhouse. You are almost certainly overwatering, Lack of sun and humidity does not help. I don't know what is supposed to be wrong with the base, You have to realise that first it is a plant not bonsai and you need to treat it as such, I would suggest that you water when almost dry, not to a schedule and place in the sunniest place possible. Forget fertiliser it is too weak and stressed. Look here under tree species to see how to look after it.

It hasn’t been repotted in over 2 years tho. And I don’t think she used the right soil. Over watering is a likely reason. When it was handed to me it was weak. the leaves where dried up so I watered a bit to revive it. I’ll place it in the sun this week and hopefully it’ll do the job.
