Hello,
I got this Catoneaster about a month ago. It’s leaves seemed to be turning increasingly brown. I noticed the soil it came in was not appropriate; it was highly compacted regular organic soil and the after would just run right out of it. I ordered proper bonsai substrate and just this past weekend I repotted it into this proper soil (at a 2:1:1 ratio). I have always misted this catoneaster 2 times a day and it sits atop a humidity tray.
Is this drying and browning of leaves and buds due to that poor soil it previously had? Is it something else? Please help.

This looks like a healthy tree to me.
Put it outside in a shady position. Water as it needs it and stop spraying it. A few weeks after repotting you can put it in full sun.
