Hi everybody,
I'm looking forward to buying my first bonsai. It will live outside in a bright trench (direct sunlight for maybe 3 hours a day). The tree should be low-maintenance and not grow higher than 50cm. It should also be able to stay outdoors all year round. Which type would you recommend?
Thanks for all recommendations
Johannes
P.S. I like needles more than leaves:-)

No tree is low maintainence most of the year, but if you prefer needles then a conifer will be what to look for. You will have to control how tall it gets not the tree. You need to get a book and read about what bonsai is and what species have needles, all conifers are hardy. You can also find much information here under ""what is bonsai.

Hmm, I am sure that is not true. At least not in my climate.
