I've had Gus for a year now. He's done great so far but for a few weeks I had to leave him with a friend because of all this COVID stuff. She was scared to overwater him and actually ended up underwatering him. When I picked him up, his leaves were still green but quite crispy. I did the scratch test and the trunk and branches are plenty green, but he has no leaves now. Do I just keep watering him like I would when he had leaves? Is there something special I need to do? I'm high-key panicking.

BRT being a tropical that loves the heat and moisture.. I would enclose in a large transparant bag. Put in a warm spot, with dappled sun (But NOT permanent sun as you will cook the tree!). This will create a nice microclimate. Once you see buds swelling and opening up you can open up the bag more and more.
Or if you have a small greenhouse.. Pop it in there.
Keep the substrate moist and certainly not overly wet. Roots that have dried out partially die and need to regenerate. Being overly wet is counterproductive.

I agree with 99% of what Leatheback says but...
I would add to it.
If the soil is aerated and very fast draining, I would add a little Sphagnum Moss on a upper layer to keep it moist longer.
SM works wonders for my BRTs when the weather is dry.
