Hi all,

I have attached a picture of my bonsai tree in hope that people may know what I should do. My chinese elm has shed most of its leaves and I have pruned all of the dead branches which has left it looking pretty bare and sad! What are the chances that it can recover from this? Is there any hope that where I have pruned the dead branches, new branches/leaves will grow? I have bought fertilizer pellets, but I'm a little stuck on what else I can do to help it along?

Another question is does the plant pictured at the trunk look like a baby bonsai? If so, is it safe to try and uproot it and put in another pot to help it along its way?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

All the best,

Lawson

The plant at the bottom is a weed. This tree should be outside, that is the reason it is in such a poor state. It will not recover well if it is inside if it does survive.
