Can’t see any buds so doesn’t look like you’ll see anything this year. Like Leatherback said, maybe next year if you can get it that far

When would you recommend repotting it into the kanamu soil LB?

Were it in my garden I would do a gentle repot. Aftercare and weather the next weeks (Not hot & dry but cloudy and calm) is going to determine your succeslevel

I noticed some of its leaves look almost dead but other are a nice vibrant green with a shiny coating.
Is it wise to take off the discoloured leaves or just leave it as it is for now?

It is indeed an Azalea.
I would not repot this year, wait for the flowers next year and prune/repot in May.
I kill Azaleas regularly, so I tend to be conservative with them.
