Recently brought this Ficus wondering how to fix this unfortunate chop. I did not chop it! Also any ideas on how to help the tree would be appreciated!!

That is the point where the tree was airlayered. So it had to be chopped there.

However, I have seen better work.

You can try to cut the stump more at an angle. In any way, it the tree survives it Will grow over the cut and make it less visible.

First time i see a ficus ginseng with any bonsai potential whatsoever.

It Will need repotting, growing in that mud it Will die. .

Okay thank you! Yes it definitely needs repotting depending on the state of it I may wait before trying anything else. I definitely felt like there was some potential there but we will see. Thank you for the information!!!

looks like it has not been watered for months. You could re pot it and hope, it might survive. Normally it is not the best idea to re pot a sick tree but in this case it probably is needed

It’s definitely been watered overwater I think. I believe that’s why it came with fungus gnats they can’t survive in dry soil. This isn’t a picture of the whole tree it just the cut I was trying to show. I’m definitely going to repot it and see what happens. I found it at Walmart and while I usually have bad lucky with any Walmart plants I just thought it was unique and maybe with some love it could be a beautiful tree. Also it was only $16 so if it doesn’t work out it not the end of the world.

Here’s a picture of the whole tree. That’s probably needed for styling ideas anyway I don’t know why I didn’t post it to begin with.
