I would look at it for a while from several angles, decide where the front is, pick out what looks like the main branches, and cut off the rest. Probably before I do that I would shorten the real long twigs so I don't have to use too much imagination, and the same with lower branches. When cutting things off I would cut one at a time, stop and look, and cut another. I would plan on an entire morning or afternoon, not just an hour. Some could do it faster, and some should do it slower.
