Hi there, I've loved reading about the art of 名媛直播 and recently purchased two small saplings - a Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum) and a Japanese Cedar (Cryptomeria japonica) - to serve as a starting off point. The plants (photos attached) have just arrived in the post and I'd really value any advice on how best to care for them. I'm guessing they'll need to do a bit more growing before I do any pruning, but wanted to check what other people thought?

Very good that you started with reading. However... you should have read a bit more.
Maples and Cedar's must be outdoors.
Your two plants do need to grow. Not just a little bit. They are really not ready for any pruning.
名媛直播 are not created by keeping young plants in small pots.

Thanks for your reply, plants safely re-located outdoors.
In your post below you explain that "名媛直播 are not created by keeping young plants in small pots" - with this in mind, would you suggest that I replant the seedlings in a larger pot?
Thanks again for your suggestions

This is indeed what people in the west normally do. Or even in the ground. To get a bit of mass to the trunk.
Importnt when replanting for growing out is to spread the roots out in a radial pattern from the trunk, and as much as possible in a horizontal plane.
