Hi all,
First, let me introduce myself, my name is Leo and I am from Perth - Australia.
I got into 名媛直播 last year after my son chose a little bonsai tree to give me for father's day (around August/19), since then, I have been trying to read as many books and watched quite a few videos here at 名媛直播 Empire (quite good content).
Based on my learning so far, I think the tree he gave me is some sort of Juniper, but I am not sure which one. Can anyone help me?
This bonsai used to have smaller foliage, and it seems to have grow "sharp" at the tips now after I put it outside since Sep/19.

It is a juniper. It could be something like procumbens, but I find it hard to identify juniper species & varieties.

some junipers have that kind of foliage all the time, or have that as their juvenile foliage. did you say you put it outside in september? what do you mean by that? Junipers need winter... and can survive fairly cold temperatures without protection.

I put out there September because when we got the plant, we were instructed to keep it inside. Then, after reading a bit more about it, I learned that outdoors is the recommendation.
From what I gathered, it seems like this one is called a Juniper Nana (I saw a video from an Aussie guy pruning one that looks exactly the same).
I want to make sure about it since i am planning the pruning to start giving shape to the tree.

I Believe the name should be J. procumbens nana then. As there are no juniperus nana as far as I know.

If you had it inside for any length of time you were lucky that it survived, especially where you are. That is the type of Juniper that I do not like, I have to wear gloves to prune it. It is difficult to tell you what to prune as I can't see all the tree inside and around, you need someone near you to show you what to to, a local club is the best suggestion but that might be difficult at the ,moment of course. It is fine for now, just water sun and fertiliser until you are able to get advice. You could try a bit of pruning if you wish, but it is quite a nice piece of material and you would not want to make a mess of it. Unless it is not draining well don't re pot. If you are looking at possibly a semi cascade style then you could look around for a deeper pot.

It was only for a month (mind you the shop who sold this tree had it for a while).
There is a good club near me in Perth, but as you said, hard to help help right now . I am ok to wait, I was concerned that I was going to lose control (by letting it grow too big and having a lot of "hardwood" branches that are too long. I agree with you, semi-cascade looks like a good choice for this tree!
Soil is draining really well, I am quite happy with that part.
Thanks for the advice!
