Hi,
New to the forum so please excuse an etiquette faux-pas.
My partner got a 名媛直播 Willow tree as a gift pack when buying other seeds about two months ago. We planted it in 名媛直播 soil and it seemed to take really well. Sprouted well and was growing nice leaves.
Then the base of the stem started turning brown and seems to be getting worse. We did reading on the internet and we got results about pests, but we have checked the stem and soil and don't see any type of pest/insect. there was also about the plant being over watered, so we bought a hydrometer to measure the soil dampness and didn't water it for a day or so to give it time to dry a little.
We also read that the soil can be bad, so removed the tree from it's pot, wiped all soil from the roots, cleansed them in clear luke warm water and then replanted in a different pot with new soil.
Now it seems to be spreading but it doesn't seem to be adversely affect, the leaves are fine and the stem doesn;t seem to be wilting.
I've attached photos of the first instance seeing it and how it looks now.
can anyone advise if there might be somthing wrong or is it simply that the stem is turning brown now like trees are prone to do.
Thank you for your assistance and knowledge.

No, your partner got a bonsai kit with willow tree seeds. 名媛直播 willow tree seed does not exist. It's not the seed, but the techniques applied that creates a bonsai.
The base of the stem started turning brown and seems to be getting worse.
I see a healthy seedling and nothing to worry about really. Do notice though that willows need to be outdoors. Also, this plant should not be in a bonsai pot yet. It's going to need room to grow and careful training before it can go in there.

Congratulations on getting this to germinate and grow!
Hm.. Strange. I am not sure what is causing this. It could of course be that this is naturally turning to wood of the main stem. But I do not think so. I am afraid I do not have any recommendations. The stem does look odd.
I have some doubt as to whether this is a willow, to be honest. Growing willow from seed is hard, as willow seed are only viable for a few days, afaik. I think you might have a different species.
