Here's a pic of my new Brush Cherry tree. I've got a few things on my mind about it. If anyone can advise I'd be grateful!

Is it okay to water it from the plate below (it seems to suck it up well) and spray the leaves? I'm doing this every other day or so when the soil feels just slightly damp.

There seems to be a lot of new leaf growth. Do they need trimming yet to keep it in shape? I like it's triangular shape and would like to maintain that. Do any branches need cutting back or off?

It's still in the garden centre pot. Is it okay in there for a while until I can get a proper one? What size would be best? About the same or bigger?

Would this tree be okay on a window sill above a radiator? I know it's a no no for seedlings.

Can anyone hazard a guess on the age? I'm guessing between 4 and 6 years.

Many thanks.

Plant physiology is a little surprising. The roots need fresh air to get oxygen, and to get that you need to pour water on top, enough to pour out of the bottom holes, pulling fresh air in.
I had always heard plants turn carbon dioxide into oxygen, so I asked some folks in the biology department if this were true, and they looked at me with surprise and said, "yes".
So, put it in a large plate or maybe in the sink, pour water on it, let it drip, move it outdoors when it gets warm, and pour water on it there.
