Trident Maple - something wrong with it? was created by Ricky73

Hi all,
during winter I bought a small "raft" Acer Buergerianum.
One month ago I pruned it a little to give it a better shape (1st pic).
Its soil was so hard that could hardly absorb water, so I repotted it just before buds started to swell (about 80% akadama and 20% pumice)
It was completely rootbound so I pruned the roots rather aggressively...
Now leaves are opening and getting bigger and bigger everyday but they look sad... they are bent down and somehow crooked.
My fear is to have pruned the roots too much so they are not able to absorb water enough to support the leaves' growth.
I have no experience with Tridents, just Palmatums.
So is it just their normal way of opening their leaves or should I worry?
Thanks everybody for your feedback!
PS. It is inside just to take the pics...

The leaves are only half open, perfectly fine.

Hi all,
An update after about one week... leaves are still looking very droopy though they are growing larger and new ones extend from buds...
I also have an Acer Palmatum Deshojo (which I repotted more or less at the same time of the Buergerianum) which is bursting with lots of new healthy leaves...
Still looking for a little encouragement from the Forum members...;)

This is how tridents start up in spring. No problems that I can see.

Is that your " picture spot" or is it the plant always inside?

Thanks Leatherback, much appreciated!
I also got a reply this morning from the place I've bought the tree from (Crespi 名媛直播, a very reputable nursery here in Northern Italy), that everything is fine... so I'll keep on waiting for the leaves to fully open!
Hi LucR,
yes this is only my picture spot... the tree is of course outside all year round!
Unfortunately the balcony I keep my trees in normally cannot be accessed for restoration works, so I had to place them in the rear of the house and they'll stay there until autumn at least - good place for lighting and ventilation but not so suitable to take good pictures
Thank you!
