Unsure if my bonsai is unhealthy! - Ligustrum spp was created by Rogers

A couple of months ago I acquired this bonsai, which this forum helped me identify as a Ligustrum. It was seemingly healthy but recently, after shooting several times with new leaves, it has lost all its leaves and is not looking as healthy.

Does anyone know if this tree should be re-potted or fertilised?

The trunk is wrinkled and non-shiny. This is typical for a tree where life has left. As water is lost from the cells, cells contract and the young bark wrinkels.

It has no leaves and as stated above trunk is wrinkled, plants inside do not usually lose leaves if alive. probably incorrect watering

This didn't happen overnight. How come you waited so long?

Ligustrum trunks, left one is OK, right one is dead.

It's been watered every couple of days since i had it, I can only assume i wasn't watering it enough. Last week i was away so it was without water for 3 days, I'm surprised it's declined so quickly.

Strange indeed. Not sure where you are located, but here last week was rainy and I have not had to really water my trees yet this year.
