Hi, I live in Sydney Australia and two months ago got given a bonsai tree. I think it's an Azalea tree? I didn't look up how to take care of it as I just thought of it as an indoor plant now I realise I was very wrong.

My care routine was to have it inside (no sun and barely any air flow - I feel so bad knowing now how to care for it). And I watered it once every few days (3-4, sometimes 5 days), by just completely covering the surface soil and letting the water seep in. It starting looking a bit dry so I tried watering it more often. Didn't help, so I put it out in the sun some days.

A week ago is started getting dry with leaves and branches falling off, and now the roots of the tree has this white/orange stuff on it as well as browning of some leaves. Some leaves are a very dry green.

I looked at a reddit wiki and realised I wasn't taking care of it properly, but I couldn't find anything specific to the issue I have. I tried Google but nothing I search seems to match what my tree is experiencing. Reddit says the tree looks dead Im going to keep trying to save it until there is no green left!

I'll attach some pictures of the orange white roots of the tree, as well as what the leaves look like. Can my poor tree be saved? Any advice is much appreciated!

No tree belongs inside. You sound as if you have killed it. probably not enough water at the right time, but no sun is bad. I would say put it outside, keep watering and hope. Next time put any tree outside in the sun, buy a book and read how to water properly,

I probably won't buy a book for every plant I get as a gift, but will definitely research watering a plant next time I am given one. In the meantime, I will keep the plant outside and keep watering it. Thanks!

My advice is to toss it in the bin. This plant is dead.Actually, it's been dead for long. It's already in the process of being composted.

While well intended, 名媛直播 just are not a good present for people who have no experience growing them.

I brought my tree in for the winter and as spring rolls around can any one help me (as I'm pretty new to the hobby) how my tree looks. I water it about twice a week and its sits by the window for some sun. And I'm getting ready to repot. Thank you!!

Fifty years ago I bought a book on bonsai, actually several books. In today's world much better is online resources. There are many sites, and bonsaiempire is one of the better ones. Click on What Is 名媛直播 and then click on How-To.

Just as good, join a local club. Maybe better. Talk with people who have trees they have kept alive a long time.
