I got this tree as a gift, and I looked at the types of bonsai trees but I still can’t figure out what it is. Please help! Care tips are also appreciated

It is a Juniper and I hope you only took it inside to take pictures, if not put it out now. This species needs sun, water at this time of year is sporadic as rain is enough to keep it watered but as spring comes so watering will be needed.

what you have is a juniper.
i would advise removing the rocks and moss on the soil as that just gets in the way when checking to see if the soil is dry and needs watering. i would place the tree outside otherwise if it stays indoors it will die by the time summer hits. for now just water and care for the tree to keep it alive. you wont really be able to do much trimming and shaping for another few years if kept healthy (more like 5 years).

Yes, Junipers likes snow in the winter.

However, the tree needs to get used to it successfully. That is why outside year around is perfect for them, just as they are in the nature.

Do NOT put it outside right away.
Do you know where it was kept before you got it? I would guess in some big chain store. That means it is not dormant and putting it outside in frost can cause extensive damage.

Putting you in a tight spot. Do you have a room which is not heated? These are usually cooler and the air has higher humidity. I would try to find a place that is as cold as possible, with plenty of light, but still above freezing. And as soon as frost has passed, put it outside.
