Hello,
My boyfriend bought me this beautiful little tree for v-day and I'd love to be able to keep it alive! I've never grown a bonsai before so I need all the help I can get. I was reading about the soil and water and such but I'm still not sure where to start. He got this from the supermarket so I'm sure it needs some help. It says it's a Ficus Retusa. Thanks for any and all help.

Nice houseplant, but not a bonsai.

This kind of tree is very easy to keep it alive. But it needs more sunlight, don't keep it indoor too long. The tree will defoliate and getting weaker.

Plenty of light.
Plenty of water when the soil feels dry.
They hate being moved around.
They like warm breezes so keep it outdoors.

Right. Exact.
They don't like any environment with temperatures below 10?C.
When I say "warm breezes+keep it outside" I mean... If the temperatures are consistently higher than 10?C then keep it outdoors.

Thank you for the information! Right now it's still pretty cold where I live so I'll keep it indoors until the right temperatures. Do you think it needs to be replanted in better soil or moved to a different pot? Also, do you think its a bonsai the person above didn't think so. It came from the Rocket Farms nursery that sells plants and such at the market here. Also, I forgot to mention some of the leafs have some black spots on them but I don't see any bugs or anything is that something I need to worry about? (attached is a picture) It's brighter in my room than the pictures make it out to be.

It is not a 名媛直播. A bonsai is supposed to resemble an old tree, and that doesn't.

It is a nice little plant though :). And if you like it, that's all that matters.
