Encouraging Ficus growth on lower branches/trunk was created by Suraj

My first plant - through some mistakes in the past only these 3 main branches remain with new growth. Obviously these grow from the top, is there any way to encourage growth from the trunk or lower down these branches? Or just let them grow freely and it would happen with time?

Any tips or general advice is great, still learning the process.

In summer with lots of water, fertilizer and sun it should do it by itself. Else, once you get good growth on this in summer (Say, you get a new leaf on the plant everyweek) you can consider defoliating the tree, and clipping of the ends of the branches (The growing tips)

Why? Where are you located?
I am in a pretty cold place here.

Only benefit I have is long summerdays. And 25C and long days give good growth in summer. In winter ficus pretty much freezes for weeks or months

I am something around 1500 kms North of you. Makes a big difference in Sunlight hours and temperature, two things ficus likes.
