Hello guys. Beginner bonsai keeper here.
2 weeks back I bought a 10yro fukien tea for 28$ (was 65$, got 60% off)
Then a week later I went back because I fell in love with a cherry tree there but didn't had the money then. I paid 38$(was 95). The owner is a nice guy.

Anyway this got me into bonsai. And I thought I give it a go with my ghost pepper plant that I overwintered. So I repotted it, cut down the roots and did some pruning.
I recon I need more pruning, but that's why I am here.
What do you guys think?

Also ps: I don't own any bonsai pots yet, so I choose a pretty small plastic container that I thought would replicate the smallness of a pot. However I did order bonsai equipment, once it comes I shall repot. For now, it will suffice..

Chilies make good training in the bonsai art, but are not really bonsais. Have fun designing your plant. Search term on the net is "bonchi". You can find a lot of useful information.

I would first focus on getting this chili to grow before anything else. I have had bad luck getting chilis to take after removing them from the garden.

Thanks for everyone's comment. The plant has actually a pretty nice trunk. It has grew wood in it's trunk, you just can't see it because of the gravel.
Should I prune the branches more? Or should I just leave it to grow until spring and then transfer to real bonsai pots?
Thanks :)

Have you made a hole in that pot for drainage?

I grow mine in bonsai pots Only in the winter. In the summer I give them big pots and they reward me with a lot of fruits and thicker trunks.
