Juniper 名媛直播 - Made my own bonsai from a juniper sprout in early spring and it thrived and grew many new shoots all summer. Potted in new soil and got moss from my property. Minimal pruning. brought indoors for winter and some of the internal branch shoots are browning out. I have removed them. I soak my bonsai in a bucket to water and they are in low light conditions in northern massachusetts. this particular bonsai got dry once in mid fall but had seemingly recovered before bringing it indoors for winter. The other 3 bonsai have not experienced this and seem to be dormant.
What do you recommend?
Do they need as much water in winter?
Is it ok to soak them in a bucket of water for 15-20 mins?
What exposure is best for wintering juniper indoors?

Keeping it indoors will kill the tree

Why exactly do you think you did your juniper a favor taking it inside?
It’s actually exactly the opposite.

I was not sure and asked a long time greenhouse in the area and they advised that if the roots freeze the tree will die. Can I put outside now? It can get to 0 F here

Dunking it in a bucket of water is not the advised way to water it.
Junipers belong outdoors.
Inside they die, always.

If you are using potting soil and the root ball has dried out and shrunk away from the sides of the pot the normal sprinkling will just run down the sides and won't penetrate the root ball. In that case soaking it in a bucket will work. Done repeatedly salts dissolved in the water accumulate in the soil.

Do something to sprinkle water from the top until water pours out of the holes in the bottom of the pot.that washes any dissolved salts out. It also pulls fresh air into the root ball, which the tree needs.

Yes, it's an emergency measure.
Not a daily chore.
