Chinese Elm and Chinese Privet

Hi Everyone!
I completly new to the art of bonsai, and have run in to problems already!
I was gifted these two tree by people who mean alot to me so would be extremly sad to see them go
As you can see on the pictures both tree's have lost most of their leaves however the chinese elm has some new shoots, and the privet has 1 new shoot. but some leaves are still on it however completly dried out!
I have attached as much info as i could! Also I'm in the UK!

I don't think you has watered them enough.

Try to keep them alive by proper watering. Put them in your brightess room. Repot the trees in spring and put them outside in spring.
