thanks to those who helped with my last question! I do have another... I have some crape myrtles that I brought inside after the summer because I live in Iowa and the winters are harsh. They haven't grow really at all and one of my three is declining quickly. Not sure what I should do. I pinched one hoping to break the dormancy of the axillary buds it to get some new growth but that didn't work. The first two pictures are of my roughest one and the last picture is the other two that are doing fairly well. I know this is a little vague but any tips would be appreciated!

Depending on where you are in Iowa, indeed you need to protect crape myrtles. They are hardy to USDA zone 7, and Iowa ranges from 7 down to 4.

That being said.. It IS winter and these are NOT tropicals. You could keep them in an as cold place as possible, without them dropping below say, -5C. The y are not supposed to be growing now, you actually should want them to be dormant and leafless!

I am in the hardiness zone 5-4 ish. Unfortunately I don't really have any place that is around that temperature. Basically I have outside with is very cold, and inside which is fairly warm. Any thing I can do or should I just wait for spring and hope for the best?

do you have a closet or garage outside/ unheated room you can possibly put these in. As LB stated these should be going into dormancy, my myrtles have already dropped all leaves and are bare.

Will they go dormant in just the dark? I have a basement but the temp is around 65. If I put them outside it can get colder then 0 F outside
