Green stem, should I wait til they turn brown to cut? was created by HarryBennett

Hi everyone I'm relatively new to bonsai only been doing it for a few months. One of my bonsai I bought from a garden centre, but I still don't really know what it is; but it's constantly growing. Now the new growth could really do with a prune but the stems are all still green. Should I wait til they turn to a 'stick' before a prune back? Or can I start pruning? I added pictures to try help. Thanks
Harry

This is a privet, ligustrim sinense.

you trim with a reason. First decide what you want your tree to look like on the long run.

Hi thanks for telling me what tree it is. I'm not sure in the shape; I want to keep it an A shape for now. So is it ok to prune when the stems are green?

Thanks again

If you know what you are doing and why, then the answer is yes.

I've done some more research on the tree it was only just to clarify before I started pruning as I wasn't sure on the species.
