Hi I’ve had my Chinese elm for a few months now. Recently I noticed that quite a few leaves are beginning to turn brown/yellow and dropping off. Is this normal for this kind of year? If it’s not meant to happen how can I bring my bonsai back to good health?

They will not survive inside. It needs to be out in a sheltered spot, Mine are out all year and will withstand at least -10C Depending on what country you are in you may have to acclimatise it.

Chinese Elm should come inside (although they can survive outside if sheltered/winterized properly) in a window facing south. If you have to use a north side window supplement with grow lights. Four to six hours of sunlight minimum per day. Make sure you use a dip tray to keep the humidity up. Spray the leaves when it has them. It will lose leaves for the winter, that's normal. Water less but make sure you water and don't let the soil dry completely, just don't keep it too wet. Come spring use half strength fertilizer and put outside.
