Carmona leaves falling

Hello peoples,
its my first time getting a bonsai and without knowing about difficult breeds me and my friend went for carmona trees. After about a week leaves (green, healthy leaves) started falling off, but I brushed it off as just poor weather (central europe(slovenia)) and not alot of light. 3 days ago when I wattered the tree (by placing it in water and waiting) leaves started rapidly falling off. There are still some left but I suspect within a week its gonna die. I watered a little bit too much since i thought my other watering method was inadequate.
I read on different guides that overwatering can cause problems later on but I had the tree for less then a month. Maybe I was underwatering all the time so now its too much? The lady selling said you should submerge it in water and wait for all the bubbles to stop (thats how I watered it 2 days ago, when it all started). I generally water it about every 2-3 days depending on the soil (so that its always moist). I've read on this forum that it usually is done like that.
Can anyone help me understand what I did wrong ? I did *not* water the leaves so I suspect that was the problem along with not alot of sunlight and of course my watering fiasco. Winter is slowly starting and its very very cloudy all day long here. I've attached some pictures. Currently its sitting at the window of the living room facing sunrise from today onwards.

My guess would be that you are overwatering it. Your soil looks to be mostly organic matter, which holds a lot of water. I have a Carmona in a fairly low organic-containing mix and water it roughly every 3 to 4 days, sometimes once a week, and I have had it since 2015. You don't want the soil to dry completely out, but let the top 1-2cm of soil dry out before watering. A good way to judge is to wiggle your finger tip into the soil a little and when you take it out if particles stick to it there is enough water in the soil.
Submerging pots in water is not ideal. Simply pour water over the soil until it drains from the bottom of the pot. You don't need to spray the foliage with water.
If you've just purchased this tree, relocation may be part of the issue. Give it a chance to adjust to its new home and try not to switch its placement in your home (taking it to a sink to water is fine). In nature trees don't move around.

Ah so it was overwatering. I also did not switch the positions and am getting a lamp soon (just for really cloudy days). I did not touch it for the past 3 days and the soil is still moist so ill wait for 2 more days.
The leaves still fall but very slowly(one leaf a day). Good thing I just left it and didnt water today .
Ill buy a little coffee table for my room so it gets direct exposure and leave it there.

Small point - if you leave it as in the picture you will spill water on the wood and may wind up hurting the wood finish. This is the voice of experience.
Put it in a drainage dish a whole lot larger than that one.

Ah yes thank you will do that. Ill put it all in a plastic container so if it gets out it will go into the container. Ill post pics when I get my club table and all but in general the leaves have stopped falling off and the soil is still moist. I think I'll have to water it in 1-2 days (I dipped my finger and it still sticks but the soil has dried down abit).
