Yup, a weed.
I see your picture and cannot help but wonder.. Do you keep this indoors? If this is the case.. Put it outside. Inside it will die unfortunately.

@Auk I overreacted there, my apologies to you and to the group. Thank you guys for responded. I've removed the weed and sat it outside. My back yard is pretty open, I had worried about the sharp wind (as sharp as it can be in GA) as we get closer to winter, and considered building a stand that would shield it on one side. You guys think its necessary or let it fare, as far as wind goes?

Depending on what part of Georgia you are in (and, assuming the Georgia in the US) - I am in Birmingham, Alabama, and leave the trees sitting outside on the stands almost all winter.
In the winter months (that is, December to February or so), I keep an eye on the forecast. If it is dropping down below 20F/-7C or so, I put them down on the back porch and maybe put something up to block the wind. If it is just a night, that is enough. But, if the buds have popped out, and the weather is dropping below freezing, I take them into the unheated garage. I don't like to leave them there longer than necessary and I keep them close to the outside door to keep them from the heat from the house. Last year some of the elms budded out January 6.

I’m just outside of Atlanta, getting most of the weather systems that pass through your area. Thanks for the tips.
