You got yourself a not too bad a mallsai actually.
I know you need to learn how to care for it in the first place, but after you master that, you can turn this into an actuall bonsai I think.

that's not 100% correct... some species of privet are not hardy and cannot survive frost. I would make sure which species it is, before just leaving it outside in the cold... that is of course, if winters go below freezing.,

Then they should ne in a greenhouse not in a house
