Originario della California, sarei condannato se avesse bisogno di stratificazione. Questa è più una richiesta di alberi che vivono in un clima più freddo.

Tropfrog wrote: Native to california, I would be suppriced if it needs stratification. That is more a demand of trees living in colder climate.
If you do not know, why even answer?
This leads to confusion:

Yes they do need cold stratification.
The seeds are protected against germinating too early. You should place the seeds in something moist (soil, tissue with water) for 4 weeks in a cold place.
A nice extensive manual is here: or here

  :pinch:Tropfrog wrote: Ahh, for our Nordic trees stratification means keeping the seeds below 0. Now I see that there are freeze stratification and cold stratification. That was new to me. My comment was based out of personal experience of freeze stratification. Thans lb for pointing me in the direction of new knowledge. As said before in another thread. No need to explain yourself. And there is soo much you do not know, it is perhaps a good idea to not try and give an answer to each question. You may call it a vendatta against your person. But maybe you could stop and think. If many people who have been growing bonsai for a long time make similar remarks, perhaps it IS about the content you are posting and not about the fact that YOU are posting.
Stratification is just a word for the steps required to break dormancy.

About having the last word: you will have it. I know you find the reply button irresistible.
