Hi All,

New to bonsai and just looking for some feedback regards my 1st set of tree's. Some doing great, others not so.

1st Juniper - Seems to be going strong.

2nd Chinese Elm - repotted and then wired and I removed one branch, came out today and elm looks to be dead.

3rd Japanese Maple - Seems to be going okay, some leaves are browning on the edge.

4th Pine - Tried to wire to create half cascade, seems to be healthy

5th - Azalea - Repotted and seems to be growing although has lost a few leaves

My 名媛直播's get a good 4 hours of sunlight per day and are watered when soil starts to dry out. last weekend I used a general plant based fertiliser with a higher nitrogen ratio with the plan to reuse every fortnight. living in West Sydney, NSW we're currently in Spring.

1st time i've ever got into gardening / bonsai. Cheers everyone!

Hey and welcome.
You have some nice young starter bonsai trees. I hope you are enjoying this wonderful hobby. It is a very loyal hobby, and patience is the key. The biggest beginner mistake is 'caring too much', which I like to call it. So, re-designing the tree every week, watering too much, wire and repot once a month etc, not a good strategy but i understand it is because one are very eager in the start of the hobby. But trees like things slow, and timed. Everything you do to a bonsai, like repotting, wiring, pruning etc is a stress. Do only one big thing a year, let the tree recover over time, then PLAN the next move.

I dont know why your elm looks dead. Maybe its dehydrated, or you broke something while wiring? What is your trees potted in and when did you repot if you did?

I saw that too, but refraimed from posting. It is most likelly aud based on OPs location. Paying attention to details is important in this hobby, isntit?

OP: My first advise is to remove the price tag before posting :)

With my very short time in the hobby, I would say that I like what you have done to the juniper. Just hoping it Will make it.
