So I purchased a Japanese Maple bonsai tree that was on the 50% off section of the store because he was looking sickly, in the hopes of rehabilitating him. I realize it probably wasn't the best idea, but it's in the past! I am wondering what tips you might have to try and bring this little guy back to life! The pot has good drainage, I've been trying to keep him well watered and have noticed recently that the soil seems to retain moisture maybe a little too much? I've been fairly successful with my ficus bonsai, but I'm fairly new to the bonsai world as a whole. Sorry, not a great pic, but might give you an idea.

Yes, not a good idea.
But...
It looks promising, with good care.
It NEEDS to be outdoors, in semi-shade, no fertilizer for now and good watering when the soil feels drying.
I would spray it with Bayer 3 in1(in the shadow, please).
Take into account that Maples and Ficus are AGES apart in terms of care, so...
Good luck!

it must be outside, or it will not survive long. Looks like it might have got dry at some point, so keep watred.
