I bought this bonsai from a hardware store half dead (first pic). I put him in a south facing window and watered him, and he is doing really well. But, I can't identify him. He doesn't really look like any of the trees in the "What kind of bonsai do I have?" article. My next question, is he ready to be repotted with quality soil? I think the size of the pot is fine, but since he came from a hardware store, I'm sure the soil is poor quality. It is the end of summer where I live, and the bonsai is kept indoors. I'm also thinking of just letting him grow wild for a year or so before pruning, to make sure he's fully recovered. What do you guys think? I've never owned one before, so any advice is appreciated.

This a carmona. Well done on getting this back to.life!
I would remove the rocks and moss, as it limits your ability to see what is happening with the soil. For now, just let it get healthy and bushy. It is now running on reserves and needs to rebuild those.
This species is a bit tricky so good luck..
