Hi there,
I have had two jade bonsai trees in this pot for a couple of months now. I noticed lately that one tree is doing perfectly fine and the other is not doing so well.
I have them under t5 lamps for 6 hours a day and water about once a week.
One trees leaves are turning yellow and falling off super fast and the other tree turns out to be perfectly fine.
I am so confused?! I would like to know anyone’s thoughts out there about what’s going on/what I should do.
Thank you!

I think this is due to acclimation problems. Some trees just responds to repotting different than others.
I grow my jade under strong artificial Light 14 hours a day. I have good growth and very healthy somewhat redish tinted leaves. 6 hours Light sounds quite low to me. However, if they was under the same condition before repotting I woldnt shange for now. If you have shanged anything in the conditions when repotting, shange it back. Give Them the conditions they have grown under before.
You dont say how strong your Light are. Try to download a lux meter to your Phone and check. It is by far not a perfect measurement, but it gives a hint. As a reference, my jades gets 20-25000 lux.

Here is a fairly trustable source for Light requirement:
It states 10-25000 lux. I put Mine outside southfacing in the summer. Sunny days top my meter at 30000 lux. Most likelly a lot more, without any problems for the plants.

I have a few (non-bosa) jades at home. And in the last years i noticed that when leaves are turning yellow, the plant is getting to less light. Or way to less water.

If a jade tree gets too lesd water it Will turn wrinceld, not yellow.
I have had jade trees in the windowsill in the swedish winter without yellowing leaves. Swedish winters do not provide much sunlight.
In all, I do think that your analysis is wrong. Since i never experienced yellowing in jade I am not sure about the cause. But my best guess is too much water or salt buildup.
If you live in the nothern hemisphere, you are phasing winter soon. Just leave your jade for now with just a very small amount of water like once a month. In the spring repot it with good Quality cacti soil or bonsai soil if that is your goal.
Most plant enthusiasts have a favorite plant type that is setting the standard for care. If your standard is bonsai which is to be watered Daily, jade maybe suffering from that. In my home there are plants that need water several Times per day to plants that need water less than every other week. That is a challenge indeed.

Thank you so much for your feedback! I am grateful for the input. I will try increasing the light and reducing watering. Hopefully that helps!
