Ficus and Trident Maples are impossible to kill, unless you tie them to the bumper of your car and drive 200 miles dragging them.
I killed a ficus quite successfully. I was not trying to make it a bonsai, and I had it in a big pot with a container underneath that kept the dirt soggy, and the roots rotted. When I pulled it out of the pot it smelled pretty bad.
You can kill them, but you have to work at it.

Yup. That’s why I see so many recommendations for beginners to start with a Ficus as their first tree.
My particular Ficus was out of its pot with its roots exposed when I came home one day. I’m not sure how long it was in that state but I wasn’t really expecting it to make a quick recovery.
I guess these are truly hardy trees that can be recommended to beginners .

Well I might try I ficus, I already own one that I have kept indoor for about 4 years now (it is alive and well inside a reptile enclosure) the only problem is that it isnt trained... i have also done alot more research on the madder of keep a indoor bonsai, and there are mostly mixed reviews. I think I might go for the jump and try it, after all I love plants and animals, and I guess this is just a hard lesson learned. (I dont think out side is a option for me unless I can make a green house or take it back inside in the after noons just because of the heat, its arizona weather that I'm talking about and it's kinda hard to keep stuff alive)
