Hi! I picked up this plant from the Missouri Botanical Garden and was told it was a variety of ficus, after a bit of research however I am wondering if it isn't nerium oleander? Or something else entirely? Any help would be greatly appreciated and sorry for the poor lighting!

Hm.. At the botanical garden they could not tell you the species you bought? Straaaange!
It is a willow-leaf fig. Ficus Nerifolia.

Hi, Madeline.
This is not a bonsai yet, it's a very young Ficus.
Treat it as a seedling or a cutting, and let it grow for some time before training it as a bonsai.
